HEMIX SHIELD

Additive description

HEMIX SHIELD is a hydrophobizer and plasticizer, air-involving additive and in terms of consumer properties meets the requirements of GOST 24 211-2008 "Additives for concrete and mortars. General technical conditions".

Field of application

HEMIX SHIELD is optimally suited for vibro-pressed products, especially for the production of:

• paving slabs and paving stones;
• curbstones;
• wall blocks;
• floor slabs.

Advantages

The use of HEMIX SHIELD allows:

• increase the density of the mixture;
• reduce water absorption;
• facilitate wetting of mixture components;
• obtain a more stable mixture to changes in the amount of mixing water;
• increase the frost resistance of products;
• reduce the formation of efflorescence;
• retard the appearance of primary and reduce the appearance of secondary efflorescence;
• improve color characteristics and other aesthetic properties of finished products;
• reduce surface flaking.

Mechanism

The HEMIX SHIELD additive gives the products hydrophobic properties. The elements of the composition block capillaries in the structure of the mixture and bind them together, thus preventing the penetration of water.

The use of the additive eliminates the need for surface hydrophobization. In this case, hydrophobic properties will have the entire product, not just the surface.

Dosage

The additive should be added in the amount of 0.2-0.6% of the cement weight. At maximum dosage HEMIX SHIELD gives the mixture a water repellent effect. This may slow down the dynamics of early strength gain, but the strength characteristics do not decrease at the design age (28 days).

The exact dosage depends on the concrete requirements and is calculated individually.

It is necessary to check the stiffness of the ready-mix with a technical viscometer, because visually it may appear stiffer than it really is.

Application

• Mix the additive before use.
• Introduce HEMIX SHIELD into the concrete mix after all the water required for mixing has been added.
• Allow sufficient mixing time after adding the admixture.

Important: HEMIX SHIELD must not be added to dry mixes
