Complex additive HEMIX NORTH

Additive description

HEMIX NORTH is a water reducer, plasticizer in dosage up to 2% and superplasticizer in dosage from 3% - in the second case the water reduction exceeds 20%. The additive has a water retention effect.

It refers to the type of antifreeze additives for “cold” and ‘warm’ concrete and according to its consumer properties meets the requirements of GOST 24211-2008 "Additives for concrete and mortars. General technical conditions".

Field of application

HEMIX NORTH is used as an antifreezing admixture for unheated winter concreting, which provides concrete strength growth in a short time regardless of the ambient air temperature.

The additive is suitable for the production of commercial concrete of class B7.5 and above, which will be used for the construction of monolithic concrete and reinforced concrete products and structures.

It is also suitable for the production of masonry mortars and plaster mixtures in combination with HEMIX OXY.

Advantages

HEMIX NORTH provides concrete with high early and final strength, frost resistance and water resistance. As a result of its use, the workability of slow-moving concrete mixtures in conditions of low temperatures is significantly improved.

The use of the admixture allows:

• to obtain a mixture with high antifreeze properties at a reduced value of water-cement ratio;
• to save heat and electricity with flexible technology of works;
• to increase the mobility from P1 to P5 without decreasing the mobility of concrete mixes in low temperature conditions.

Mechanism of action

The principle of action of HEMIX NORTH is based on the adsorption of polycarboxylate molecules with different molecular weights combined with an accelerated strength gain effect.

The additive initiates the dispersion process. Due to the occurrence of electrostatic repulsion forces, the particles cannot come closer together and form conglomerates. As a result, the amount of water required to produce a concrete mixture with the specified characteristics is reduced. The solubility of cement decreases, clinker minerals hydrate, and the number of new formations in the cement stone increases. As a consequence, strength gain occurs.

The composition contains elements based on alcohols, thanks to which the particles of the additive enter into chemical interaction with water molecules. This leads to lower freezing point and hydration at subzero temperatures.

Dosage

Depending on the temperature and method of concrete placement, the admixture should be added in the amount of 0.8-4.5% of the cement weight.

Before using the additive it is recommended to carry out a series of laboratory tests, according to the technical specification. The methodology is determined in accordance with GOST 30459-2008 "Additives for concrete and mortars. Determination and evaluation of effectiveness".

Important! Since the concentration of the additive is 40%, the required amount should be calculated according to the following formula:

cement weight x dosage of additive / 40% = X kg of additive

Application

Mix the admixture before use.
Add HEMIX NORTH to the concrete mix together with the first or last third of the water required for mixing.
Allow sufficient mixing time after the addition of the admixture.

Important: HEMIX NORTH should not be added to dry mix.

It is not recommended to use the additive in structures:
under the influence of direct electric current;
prestressed and reinforced steel (classes At-III, At-IVC, At-IV, At-V, At-VI, A-IV, A-V), which are operated in aggressive environments.

In case of changes in inert or binding properties of concrete, it is recommended to adjust the composition in laboratory conditions.
