Complex additive HEMIX LK

Additive description

HEMIX LK -25 is a water reducer, plasticizer in dosage up to 2% and superplasticizer in dosage from 3% - in the second case the water reduction exceeds 20%. The additive also has a water retention effect.

It refers to the type of antifreeze additives for “cold” and ‘warm’ concrete and according to its consumer properties meets the requirements of GOST 24 211-2008 "Additives for concrete and mortars. General technical conditions".

Field of application

HEMIX LK -25 is used as an antifreeze admixture for the production of commercial concrete of class B7.5 and above, which will be used for the construction of monolithic concrete and reinforced concrete products and structures.

It can be used in the production of masonry mortar, plaster mixtures and “cold” concrete of classes B7.5-B35.

The additive is used for unheated winter concreting and provides concrete strength growth in a short time regardless of the ambient air temperature.

Advantages

HEMIX LK -25 provides concrete mixtures with high early and final strength, frost resistance and water resistance. As a result of application, the workability of slow-moving concrete mixtures in conditions of low temperatures is significantly improved.

The use of the additive allows:

• obtain mixtures with higher antifreeze properties at a lower value of water-cement ratio;
• ensure curing at low and subzero temperatures (down to -25 °C);

Mechanism of action

The principle of action is based on the adsorption of polycarboxylate molecules with different molecular weights combined with the effect of accelerated strength gain.

Addition of HEMIX LK -25 initiates the dispersion process: due to electrostatic repulsion forces, the particles cannot come closer together and form conglomerates. As a result, the amount of water required for mixing and obtaining concrete mixtures with specified characteristics is reduced.

Additionally, the solubility of cement decreases, clinker minerals hydrate, and the number of new formations in the cement stone increases. As a consequence, the strength gain occurs.

The composition contains elements, thanks to which the particles of the additive enter into chemical interaction with water molecules, which leads to a lower freezing point.

Dosage

Depending on the temperature and method of concrete placement, the additive should be introduced in an amount of 0.8-5% of the weight of cement.

The exact dosage is calculated exclusively in laboratory conditions, according to the technical specification. Test methods are determined in accordance with GOST 30459-2008 "Additives for concrete and mortars. Determination and evaluation of effectiveness".

Important! Since the concentration of the additive is 40%, the required amount should be calculated according to the following formula:

cement weight x dosage of additive / 40% = X kg of additive

Application

Mix the additive before use.
Add HEMIX LK -25 to the concrete mix together with the first or the last third of the water required for mixing.
Ensure sufficient mixing time after the addition of the admixture.
Important: HEMIX LK -25 must not be added to dry mix.

It is not recommended to use the additive in structures:
under the influence of direct electric current;
prestressed and reinforced steel (classes At-III, At-IVC, At-IV, At-V, At-VI, A-IV, A-V), which are operated in aggressive environments.

In case of changes in inert or binding properties of concrete, it is recommended to adjust the composition in laboratory conditions.
